People are no more satisfied with plain hued walls, or then those with wallpaper. Their demand is for something rather ornate. They want to decorate their homes with artwork that is pleasing to the eyes. There are various advantages of using acrylic paints which includes that they carry less odor than the oil paints and are less messy to use. However, the depth in acrylic shades is not as much as those that can be achieved by using oil paints.

The paintings using acrylic colors do not look as rich as those created with oil paints. And most artists feel that the acrylic paints dry too fast for their liking, and they do not even spread as well as the oil paints on the canvas board. The painting seems incomplete.

According to experts oil paintings value is dependent on the type of paint being used, amongst other factors. Also the age of the painting determines its value – the older and more historically relevant the piece of art, the higher the price it gathers. Another factor is the artist, who has created a piece of art.
